And then sit and try to relax in whatever spot they do the BPs. (So don't rest in a chair then move to the exam table for the reading.) Baby spent 4 days in NICU and had no issues after coming home. Also, hold completely still until it is done, and movement makes the numbers go up. And yes, make sure you have been sitting relatively quietly for at least a few minutes. I get crazy readings at work as a nurse on my patients all the time, it's not uncommon to get some abnormal readings if the cuff is not snug, the right size, or if the patient is moving even a little.
